OXEN's response to --- Tom's Irrelevant Musings: Logic Systems

Tom's Irrelevant Musings: Logic Systems

awwwwwww why did you lock the thread Tom?

I worked so long on this. I guess I'll just post it on my Blog.

[in order for my comments to make any sense you should go read Tom's Blog first.]

I have to say on the outset that you are a better writer than I, but I'm not the one that is wrong here.

If you haven't been able to conclude yet I have find it quite fun prodding liberals with my logic and viewpoint.

I'm still trying to figure out what is "false" about the things I've brought up, looks all true to me. (But I guess that's your point.)

Allow me to expand on my thought process.

I'll take Kofi's statement about the illegality of the Iraq war and try and lay it out in a liner way.

In UNSCR 1441 the UN -- that world body that is supposed to be world's police but still can't decide if genocide is actually occurring in the Sudan and sat back while 800,000 Rwandans were slaughtered in 100 days -- said that Saddam "has been and remains in material breach of its obligations under relevant resolutions ". So they recognized that he's in the wrong to start with and not living up to the prior UNSCRs placed on him.

AND it gave " authorized Member States to use all necessary means to uphold and implement its resolution 660 (1990) of 2 August 1990 and all relevant resolutions subsequent to Resolution 660 (1990) and to restore international peace and security in the area,"

See 1441 wasn't a stand alone document, it carried alot of baggage along with it. Namely all the resolutions Saddam was still not living up to.

But 1441 did give Saddam one more chance to comply. And yes I did understand that was like asking a leopard to change it's spots, it wasn't going to happen, but the rest of the world knew that too. Remember the vote on 1441 was 15-0.

So when they told Saddam he had to come up with a "currently accurate, full, and complete declaration of all aspects of its programmes to develop chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles, and other delivery systems such as unmanned aerial vehicles ..yada yada yada", I knew he wasn't going to tell us the truth. And when Saddam did put out the Dec. 7th statement of what he had I don't recall ANY world body saying "yeah, Saddma's telling the truth."

So we've got Saddam lying, move on to section 4 of 1441.

4. Decides that false statements or omissions in the declarations submitted by Iraq pursuant to this resolution and failure by Iraq at any time to comply with, and cooperate fully in the implementation of, this resolution shall constitute a further material breach of Iraq’s obligations and will be reported to the Council for assessment in accordance with paragraphs 11 and 12 below;

On to sec. 11 & 12
11. Directs the Executive Chairman of UNMOVIC and the Director General of the IAEA to report immediately to the Council any interference by Iraq with inspection activities, as well as any failure by Iraq to comply with its disarmament obligations, including its obligations regarding inspections under this resolution;

12. Decides to convene immediately upon receipt of a report in accordance with paragraphs 4 or 11 above, in order to consider the situation and the need for full compliance with all of the relevant Council resolutions in order to secure international peace and security;

This is where things ground to a halt. Hans Blix couldn't find his ass with both hands and didn't want to be the one that stood up and called out Iraq.

On to the US Congress and H.J. Res. 114 that gave the President AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES

(a) AUTHORIZATION- The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to--

(1) defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and

(2) enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq.

That passed 77-23 in the Senate. The 23 nays were all dems, but even Kerry & Clinton voted Yea.

And 296 - 133 in the House

See the League of the UN wasn't doing it's job and wasn't going to enforce it's own resolutions so we had to or Saddam would have continued to fund suicide bombers (with Oil-for food monies), fire at our planes enforcing the no fly zone, live in luxury, milk the Oil-for food, and waited for the sanctions on Iraq to be dropped. While his people lived in squalor, coward in fear Iraq's secret police, and school girls hid from Uday in fear of being his next rape victim.

So unless Kofi want to call the UN an illegal body (we couldn't be so lucky) he has no place to call what we did in Iraq illegal.

Now on to why I said "LOL!!! This would be the same Koif Annan that over saw the OIL-FOR-FRAUD scandal?"

I'll just direct you over to CLAUDIA ROSETT, she be keeping a sharp eye on the OFF scandal.

I suggest her Archives too so you can become fully abreast of how bad OFF is.

And don't forget about Kofi's son Kojo.,2933,141656,00.html
